Nofollow Tag Test

Checks for the presence of a nofollow meta tag.

What is this check?

A `nofollow` meta tag (`<meta name='robots' content='nofollow'>`) tells search engines not to 'follow' any of the links on a page. This means they won't crawl the linked pages from this page or pass any SEO authority to them.

Why is it important?

This is generally used on pages with a large number of untrusted or user-generated links to prevent passing authority to potentially low-quality or spammy sites.

What is the impact?

If used incorrectly on an important page, it can prevent search engines from discovering other important pages on your own site. It should be used with caution.
